More about my Audio setup!

Its great when you have a qso and the other station compliments your audio. I took time to research how to setup a nice audio system and there was plenty of help out there. I started out with W2IHY boxes (8 Band EQ & EQ Plus). You can always listen to or talk to folks on 14.178 and they always look forward to helping you. As luck would have it, I talked to Mike (WZ5Q) on the air one day and immediately realized that I had already been reading his website a lot. I asked Mike for help and a couple of weeks later, I have this fantastic setup and sound excellent. Read more about Mike (WZ5Q)...

EV RE20 EV RE20

This is a phenomenal microphone. I enjoy it every day and for every QSO. It's the choice of majority of the professional broadcasters. It reproduces the lows in a very unique way. Go to coutant.org and you will find audio samples from all the microphones. (You wont find HEIL there).

MIC2200 MIC2200 - Preamp

The least expensive microphone preamp of quality that you can buy in the market. The preamp has other added features such as parametric EQ etc, but I purely use it for audio in and out. I just use the left channel before plugging into the RP533.

RP533 Bellari - Studio tube multi-processor

The Bellari RP533 Studio Tube Multi-Processor is full of Harmonics that just make your audio turn into music. It's just Unbelievable. This unit's Exciter will enhance the harmonics to a new Level of existence, while the compressor section adds a new dimension of soft silkiness and smoothness to the audio signature. This unit also has the AD823AN Op Amps installed.

DEQ2496 DEQ2496

The DEQ2496 is an amazing EQ processor. I had lot of fun setting up this piece of equipment. I use the following features in the DEQ2496: it's Downward expander and the Parametric EQ (PEQ). I followed John's (NU9N) website for all the DEQ settings when I used the 2496 for this purpose, but I now use the Triple-C. With the help of Mike, I nailed the PEQ settings.

EX3200 Voodoo Labs EX3200

The EX3200 uses Dynamic Frequency Correction, Phase Shifting with respect to Delay Times, and Harmonization to give the Audio a natural, lively brilliance in the Mids and Top End, and full, rich, deep Low End. It's voodoo modified which basically puts Harmonics in-between Harmonics. The Effect is phenomenal!!

Triple-C TC Electronics Triple-C Multi-band compressor

The TC Electronic Triple-C Multi-band Compressor does a tremendous job in Dynamic Control and bringing out the frequency separation through spectral balancing. The frequency separation is just truly Unreal. I was using the Behringer DEQ-2496 for this purpose, but the Triple-C is now in its place and there is no comparison. The Triple-C has been modified...all the Op Amps have been socketed and changed to AD823AN, and the caps have been changed to Panasonic FC Series Caps.

DSP2024P Voodoo Labs DSP2024P

The DSP2024P Virtualizer Pro is another voodoo modified unit. What's used is a variation of Plating that gives the Audio such a subtle Airiness and Depth. It's very transparent and you wouldn't notice it unless an A - B comparison was done. Without it, the Audio is soooo Flat!

Mackie Mixer Mackie Mixer

I bought the Mackie mixer at Samash in NYC. I couldnt find a behringer mixer in the stores. Its a 2 channel mixer and it also gives the facility to connect my Sony Digital Player into it. It works great and the audio mixing is clean.

iPlus iPlus

I use the iPlus by W2IHY to convert my line level to mic level. This is an excellent product for someone like me who has more than one transceiver to connect. The iPlus enables me to connect to my 3 transceivers from one EQ rack. Julius is a great guy to deal with and he was available to help with any issues. I would highly recommend the iPlus to everyone.
